The Ag. Vice-Chancellor Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof Kate Omenugha has been speaking of the critical elements driving the administration of the institution.
Omenugha was speaking when she led members of the University’s consortium to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Anambra State ahead of their 9th International Interdisciplinary Conference.
The Consortium is made up of Kyambogo University Uganda, Mount Kenya University Kenya, University of Eldoret Kenya, University of Makeni Sierra Leone, Vincent Pol University Poland and University of SS Cyril and Methodius Slovakia.
Omenugha said that since she became the Vice-Chancellor, the university has been run by 3Vs which are; Values, viability and visibility. And the purpose of the visit was to introduce the international guests to the Governor.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor Mount Kenya University expressed gratitude to the State Government for their hospitality so far.
He said that the idea behind the consortium was to build research activities in their respective universities and knowledge exchange.
“In order for Africa to thrive, Africa needs to solve its problems through its own research and not rely on Global research”, he said.
The Vice-Chancellor of Kyambogo University reiterated the views of his counterpart from Mount Kenya University, on the idea behind the consortium and collaboration.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Ibezim who received the team on behalf of the Executive Governor, welcomed them to the State.
He appreciated the efforts of the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and her team for their works in making the university visible especially to the International community.
Ibezim noted how the Governor who is a lover of education did a thorough assessment of the Educational system in the State and then employed 5000 teachers and later added 3000 more and how the Governor also made Education free from Primary to Senior Secondary School.
He went further to say that Africa’s hope lies in the Academia and that Africa will be better if we solve our problems ourselves.
The Vice-Chancellors of Mount Kenya University and Kyambogo University presented gifts to the Governor.
Prof Osita Chiaghanam, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, in his vote of thanks appreciated the Soludo led government for supporting the International Conference and also for their efforts so far in the State and also appreciated the efforts of the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University for her efforts too in redefining the University.
