Engage In Economic Ventures To Mitigate Effects Of Economic Crunch On Your Families – Group Advises Women

A group known as Great Women of Enugu Association Worldwide has advised women in the country to mitigate the effects of current economic on their families by being engaged in meaningful ventures.

Mrs Nkechi Ani, the Association ‘s President made the call in an interview at the end of a meeting with women of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Idaw River Enugu.

Ani noted that the present economic crunch in the country had made it imperative for women to support in providing for their families for sustenance during this hard period.

“This is no longer the time catering for the families should be left for the men as families need this collaborative effort to pull through these austere times.

“Women should engage in economic ventures no matter how little as such would definitely make desired impact.”

The association’s president also advised women and other members of families, to adopt a psychological approach of coping with the dire effects of the economic crunch.

“The situation in the country no matter how it appears presently, did not start today so people should make themselves happy.

“Women and their family members should not put the situation to heart but find ways to cope with the hope that all would eventually be well.”

She noted that the interactive session with the women was unique and rewarding, as it provided an opportunity for exchange of ideas, conviviality and solutions to problems.

“The women were enlightened on how to live healthily to avoid dying young which is prevalent in the society now.

“We have tips on how to maintain healthy lifestyles through adequate diet consumption, heathy activities among others.

“The women also asked questions on issues bothering them and we proffered solutions on such issues to make families and the society better.”

Ani noted that another resource person at the programme Mrs Chioma Onyia enlightened the women on moral values of Enugu state and what are expected of them as role models.

“Culture and good moral behaviors are inseparable in placing acceptable values on the society and women have a great role to play.

The association also engaged in several enlightenment activities among the populace while seeking an advocacy visit on the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in the state.
