Member of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Nwakpu (APC— Ikwo North), says he will guard his constituents’ vote of confidence on him jealousy with continued quality representation, for them not to reverse it.

The first term member announced this on Saturday at his residence in Ndiegu-Echara, Ikwo Local Government Area during his one year constituents’ briefing and empowerment programme.

Nwakpu said the vote of confidence which culminated into an endorsement for a second term at the assembly, took him by surprise as it showed the people appreciated his efforts.

“This sacrifice by the people will not be taken for granted but motivate me for enhanced performance in office.

“I pray God to help me in this task for them not to change their minds and reverse their endorsement.’

The lawmaker who distributed over 100 bags of fertilizers, cash and empowerment items to his constituents during the occasion, said he was motivated by people support so far in office.

“I have to inform them of my sojourn within one year and general contribution in making the seventh Ebonyi House of Assembly, one of the most peaceful in the country.

“We have an effective working relationship with the executive arm of government and passed all bills emanating from it due to their people oriented ness.”

He noted that he has attracted water-boreholes, street lights to several wards in his constituency including the reconstruction of Ofutu Omege primary school among others.

“I have also empowered several youths to be self reliant and will continue to do more within my capacity.

“I decided to call everybody not only the stakeholders as the youths, men, women among others, contributed to my emergence as their representative.

“I didn’t apply the quota system because during elections, everyone would come out to vote.

“During my electioneering campaign, I promised to present whatever I have for the people openly and I will always do so.”

Nwakpu called on his constituents to continue supporting the government of Governor Francis Nwifuru and pledged to propagate the governor’s programmes in the constituency.

“The governor is our inlaw as his wife is from this constituency, precisely Echara community.”
