The member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/ Ivo federal constituency at the National Assembly, Chief Nkemkanma Kama has sponsored extra-mural and holiday tutorial classes for students in various schools across his constituency.

Kama made the declaration while inspecting projects he attracted to the constituency, noting that the children needed to be distracted from vices which, he said, abound in the society.

The legislator remarked that the initiative was to stop the children from roaming the streets during the current holidays but be confined within the school environment for tutorials.

“The extra-mural classes will harness their intellect to complement what they were taught in school and the experience will be rewarding and beneficial to the pupils and the the society.”

Kama noted that he attracted the projects being inspected and expressed satisfaction that they were in various stages of completion.

“We hope that the projects which include water boreholes, solar street lights, primary health care centres among others, would be completed by December 22.

“We are constructing 13 boreholes for 10 communities of the constituency with each getting one and some two boreholes.

“We are installing 50 solar street lights for each of the 34 wards of the constituency and we are committed to completing the installation.”

Kama remarked that he was collaborating with state primary health care authorities in re-constructing such facilities across the constituency, to enhance the people’s health.

“The primary health care centre in Ukawu for instance is mind-buggling and I can’t understand why that community would not have such centre.

“We intend to handle about 5 of such centres across the constituency with available resources.

“It is not about the quantity but quality as delivering adequate health care to the people remains the primary objective,.”

He appealed to Gov. Francis Nwifuru to construct a bridge at Ameke- Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area (LGA) while reconstructing the one at Ukawu, in Onicha LGA.

“The governor is a reputed builder who has changed the narrative of the state and I know that he will hearken to this appeal.

“The non provision of a bridge at Ameke- Ishiagu prevents our people from accessing their farm lands which makes their neighbours from Enugu, encroach on them.

“The fallen bridge at Ukawu makes the journey across villages and beyond the community tedious, ultimately bringing untold hardship on the people.”
