NASS Members Urged To Represent Constituents Effectively

National Assembly members have been urged to always ensure quality representation of their constituencies to reciprocate their election into office by the people.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas gave the advice in a message to an empowerment programme organised by the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Comrade Chinedu Ogah to mark his 48th birthday celebration at his home town, Item Amagu in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State.

Items distributed to thousands of his constituents with journalists also benefiting, include: motorcycles, deep freezers, electric generating sets, sewing and grinding machines, over 30,000 bags of fertilizers among others.

Represented by the . member representing Ado-Ekiti Orepodun Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Fatoba Olusola,ย  Abbas congratulated Ogah on the feat, describing him as a dedicated legislator whose outstanding performance calls for support.

“This support is to enable him do more as other National Assembly members are enjoined to emulate Ogah’s leadership disposition to impact meaningfully on their constituents.

“We call for more prayers for the nation in the face of the present current economic hardship.”

Abbas urged the beneficiaries to utilise the items judiciously in order to be self reliant and realise the objectives of the empowerment.

The member representing Afikpo North and Edda Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Chief Idu Igariwey stated that the standard set by Comrade Ogah will be difficult to match.

“This is a challenge to us at NASS and we would always strive to better the lives of our people.”

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State sent a message in which he congratulated Ogah on the initiative, noting that he remains one of the finest legislators from the State.

Represented by the Speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Moses Odunwa, Nwifuru noted that “Ogah remains a human resource builder and we would continue being proud of you.

“The state government will always encourage and support you as you replicate our efforts to bring democratic dividends to our people.”

The representative of Chairman of the occasion and Minister of Works, Chief David Umahi, member of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Chief Clement Nweke stated that Comrade Ogah’s qualitative representation is impressive and a source of pride to the state.

“We pray God to continue preserving and strengthening him for more continued service to the people.”

Ogah in his response, said his aim of handing over the items to his constituents was to empower them to be self- reliant and useful to the society.

“We have equipped and empowered them with requisite skills and tools to boost the economy of the area and cope with the present economic realities in the country.

“I am overwhelmed by the massive support I received from the government and people of the area and pledge to continue offering them equitable representation.

“I pledge to continue complimenting the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru to enhance the well-being of the people.”
