Fubara Commends NYSC’s Food Security Initiative

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state has expressed happiness over the National Youth Service Corps’ (NYSC) new policy direction on food security.

The policy aims at using corps members to boost the agricultural value chain and increase food production in Rivera state, a development the governor described as “heart-warming”

The governor stated this in a message to the swearing in of 2024 Batch C Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to the State which took place Friday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai LGA.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG),ย  Hamilton Amadi, Fubara commended the NYSC for its efforts towards attaining selfless service and commitment in building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

“I charge the corps members to be disciplined, dedicated and committed in doing good through exemplary conduct and behaviour.

“I assure the corps members of my administration’s conscious and consistent effort to making their welfare and security top priority.”

The Coordinator NYSC in Rivers State, Moses Oleghe enjoined the corps members to see the national service as a veritable opportunity to contribute their quota to nation building.

Oleghe commended them corps members for demonstrating high sense of patriotism and loyalty in realising the objectives of the orientation programme.

“I encourage you to make sincere and honest sacrifices that would engineer positive turnaround in the nation’s social and economic spheres.”

A total of 1,901 corps members comprising 574 males and 1,327 females were sworn in during the ceremony by Justice Diri Jumbo Stephens who represented the state Chief Judge.

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Executive Chairman Tai LGA, Mathew Dike, the Director NYSC South South Area Office II, Philip Enaberue, the paramount ruler of Gbam, HRH Charles Nwimene Nyorue and security agencies among others.
