It was a carnival of sorts at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria, when Anambra State residents in Lagos on Saturday observed their cultural day.
Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo was represented at the ceremon by his Deputy, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, who expressed happiness that the people still remembered their roots.
He told the crowd that the event was significant as it served as a unifying factor stressing the oneness of the people and reminding their children that they have a home called Anambra.
The Deputy Governor assured them of the Governor’s unrelenting efforts in making Anambra a destination for many, reminded them of his great strides in the areas of education, road construction, employment, youth training on various skills and the general provision of social amenities in the state .
Ibezim encouraged them to think and invest at home, describing the state as a construction site, citing various works going on in all the 21 local government areas in the state.
The event witnessed thought-provoking speeches re-investment strategies, cultural displays by the 177 communities of Anambra state resident in lagos and an array of traditional rulers and President Generals from different communities in attendance.
