The National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Enugu State Chapter now has a new Executive Committee to pilot its affairs for the next three years.
Mrs Ngozi Ngene of the State Ministry of Information emerged unopposed as Chairperson following the withdrawal of her opponent, Mrs Chinyere Agbo, from the race.
Mrs Amaka Uchennadiukwu of the Federal Radio
Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu Zonal Station was elected Vice Chairperson.
The positions of Secretary and Assistant Secretary went to Ogochukwu Chukwudike of the State Ministry of Information and Maryann Moore of the FRCN Enugu.
Others were Lucy Okechi of the National Orientation Agency, Treasurer and Sylvia Udegbunam of the Correspondents Chapel, Financial Secretary.

Inaugurating the new executive, the Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Regis Anukwuoji, who represented the Chairman, charged the new officers to evolve strategies to reposition the Association in the State as well as work for the welfare of members.
He commended the peaceful conduct of the election describing it as a sign of a better future.
The Chairman, Credentials Committee, Amaka Odoh advised the new executive to be good listeners and give equal attention to all members.
She also told them to guard against warned them to guard against those he described aay against hijackers, division builders and backbiters.
Also addressing the new officers, the representative of NAWOJ Zone C in the Board Of Trustees, Ngozi Mbah requested all mbers of the Association to support the new executive to enable them to achieve success.
In her inaugural speech, the new Chairperson, Ngozi Ngene on behalf of the members of the executive committee, pledged the commitment of the new team to steer the Association’s affairs in a positive direction and add value to the life of members.
” I am overwhelmed by the massive encouragement and support you extended to me during my campaign.
I would like to thank also members of the credentials committee who worked tiredlesly to achieve this new height.
My immense thanks goes to the BOT NAWOJ Zone C (South East) comrade Ngozi Mbah and my humble oponent in the contest, Mrs Chinyere Agbo.
“I promise to bring lasting peace and unity in NAWOJ Enugu state.
I have on this very day opened the door to carry everybody along so that we can fly together”, she said.
